“Mimi pesa Yangu inaweza lisha Wakenya i Earn 1 Million per month as a Radio presenter”,Shaffie Weru reveals

Kenyan media personality Shaffie Weru recently surprised his fans by disclosing the substantial income he used to earn during his tenure as a radio presenter. Speaking on the Mic Cheque podcast, Shaffie revealed that he used to pocket Ksh 1 million per month.

Recalling the financial landscape of 2006, Shaffie reminisced, “Just before tax, I made about Ksh 1.1 million. Money was flowing, and it was a time of enjoying the good life, acquiring lavish cars, and dealing with the responsibilities of having children early on. My firstborn is currently in university, and if you do the math, it’s been 18 years since then. I was also covering school fees during those times.”

During the years 2006 and 2007, Shaffie Weru was evidently one of the highest-paid radio presenters in Kenya, particularly while hosting the morning show on Kiss FM.

However, Shaffie’s career took a turn in 2021 when he faced dismissal from HomeBoyz radio. This occurred following on-air comments where he advised women to exercise caution in their initial interactions with unfamiliar men. This advice was given in the wake of a distressing incident where a woman endured a sexual assault and was thrown off a building during a first date.

Shaffie’s counsel, urging women to be cautious and avoid risky situations, sparked criticism from some who viewed it as disrespectful and contributing to gender-based violence. Ultimately, Shaffie Weru, along with his former colleagues Neville and DJ Joe Mfalme, faced termination from their positions at HomeBoyz radio.
