President Uhuru Kenyatta’s is currently facing impeachment looms after high court ruling that halted BBI, in which 5 judges questioned him for flaunting the Constitution, which he swore to protect and defend.
In their judgment, the High Court blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta for disregarding, and not respecting the Constitution and to that degree, falling short of the leadership and integrity threshold set in the Constitution.
As indicated by the judges, Uhuru and not the common mwananchi was the initiator of the BBI and this repudiated the laws as the President doesn’t have a Constitutional command to initiate amendments through a popular initiative.
They opened welcomed lawsuits against Uhuru subsequent to announcing that the President can be sued in his own capacity during their tenure in office, for anything done in opposition to the Constitution.
BBI Secretariat was additionally proclaimed illegal as it was an initiative of the President while all activities taken by IEBC in regard to the Constitution Amendment Bill 2020 were ruled as invalid and void.
