Lady Seeks Protection After Husband Demanded She Undergoes FGM.

Cases of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) are on the rise in the country and as the government has declared a war on its perpetuators, most of the ladies are suffering in silence.

According to a survey by GEMA Productions, 50 ladies between the age of 18-45 go through the cut every month in Murang’a County and 7 below 18 years also pass through the same.

A recent case is that of Susan Nyambura who says that her husband has been insisting she go through the cut.

She alleges that the husband has also been issuing threats of leaving her based on the fact that she is uncircumcised.

Susan in an interview said that she would rather break the marriage but FGM is a no go zone for her.

She is now seeking protection by the government stating that her life is in danger in the hand of her husband.

Notably, early September, Murang’a County Woman Representative, Sabina Chege rescued a lady who had been taken for the cut by a group of men sourced by the husband.
