‘Shauri Yenu’: Pastor Ezekiel Explains Why Kenyans Should Never Wear T-shirts Printed with African Map

Pastor Ezekiel Odero has sparked controversy with his claim that a specific T-shirt design holds the potential to disrupt marriages and relationships.

The founder of New Life Prayer Centre and Church, Pastor Ezekiel Odero, delivered this cautionary message during a sermon at his church, cautioning against the use of T-shirts adorned with an African map print.

In a widely circulated video, Pastor Odero singled out a male congregant wearing a green T-shirt featuring an African map print. He explicitly directed the young man to refrain from wearing the T-shirt again, insisting that it is meant exclusively for individuals who have experienced divorce.

According to the preacher based in Kilifi, the T-shirt carries a spiritual essence capable of hindering or dissolving marital unions.

“Do not wear this garment again. Anyone who wears this T-shirt will not marry or find a spouse. It is reserved for divorced individuals only. Refrain from purchasing this garment wherever it is available. I understand that businesspeople may be displeased with me, but every piece of clothing carries significance,” Pastor Odero emphasized.

He further expounded on his belief that all clothing possesses spiritual significance and has the potential to influence the wearer’s destiny. Pastor Odero referenced former President Uhuru Kenyatta as an example, highlighting that he modified his dressing style upon assuming leadership of the nation.

“Each piece of clothing exudes a spirit that attracts you to it. Before President Uhuru Kenyatta took office, he wore various outfits, but once he became president, he was advised to don dark blue suits and a red tie. That red tie symbolizes leadership,” the pastor explained.
