Taarab singer Khadija Kopa, who is also the mother of Zuchu, recently spoke out about the persistent rumors surrounding her daughter’s relationship with the renowned Tanzanian Bongo star, Diamond Platnumz.
In a candid interview with Wasafi Media, Khadija clarified that, according to their cultural customs, Diamond Platnumz has not completed the necessary traditional steps to be officially recognized as Zuchu’s husband.
Khadija emphasized that their cultural tradition dictates that a person can only be acknowledged as being in a formal relationship with a woman after complying with specific customs, particularly the payment of dowry.
Despite the extensive speculation and media attention surrounding the connection between Zuchu and Diamond Platnumz, Khadija stressed that the precise nature of their relationship remains a mystery to her.
She explained that Zuchu has not yet introduced her partner officially, and she encouraged potential suitors to express their intentions, as Diamond has not officially married her daughter.
Khadija expressed, “I am unaware of their relationship because, in our cultural norms, a relationship becomes known once the dowry has been paid during the engagement. But I don’t know about any external relationships. Zuchu knows about her relationship status, so you should ask her. However, there has been no formal proposal or dowry paid. Diamond Platnumz is not her husband or fiance, and anyone else can express their interest.”
In a recent development, Zuchu addressed her relationship with Diamond following rumors of a potential separation. To put these speculations to rest, the two publicly shared a kiss during a performance, reaffirming their commitment and bond to one another.
