Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has ended his silence following widespread reports about former boxing champion Conjestina Achieng’s relapse into a deteriorating state in their Siaya village. Sonko, the ex-governor, divulged leaked phone call conversations with Conjestina’s family on Friday, shedding light on her departure after a minor disagreement.
According to Sonko, Achieng, renowned for her achievements in boxing, became upset when she couldn’t secure a flight back to Nairobi from Mombasa due to fully booked flights. Faced with the urgency of a court appearance and potential arrest if absent, Sonko arranged for her to travel by bus, a decision that further upset her.
In his defense, Sonko asserted, “I did my best to help Conje, but her family undermined my efforts.” He explained his disagreement with the family’s choice to recall Achieng, citing their lack of preparation to monitor her and ensure continued rehabilitation. Despite the challenges, Sonko hinted at a possible resolution, stating, “Maybe I will be forced to give a third and final chance.”
