A 40-year-old man has been apprehended by the police on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the Adugo sub-location of Nyatike County. As reported by Adugo sub-location Assistant Chief, Samora Michel, the accused is presently held in custody at the Karungu police station awaiting further investigation and legal proceedings.
Michel asserted that the suspect, who had a relationship with the victim’s mother, allegedly assaulted the girl during her mother’s absence. The case is currently under scrutiny by various authorities to ensure the individual faces charges in court.
Expressing concern over the escalating incidents of such crimes in the area, Michel emphasized that appropriate legal measures would be pursued against any offenders. Nyatike sub-county police commander, Dorothy Migarusha, confirmed the ongoing investigation, assuring that justice will be served for the victim.
