Expect Very Heavy Rainfall from Next Week, MET Office reveals

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a call for residents to make preparations for the forthcoming rainfall expected in various parts of the country over the next week, commencing from Tuesday.

The weather forecast spanning from December 5 to December 12 indicates that precipitation is anticipated to persist in the elevated regions of the eastern and western sections of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Southeastern Highlands, and the Coastal areas.

Conversely, Northeastern and Northwest Kenya are projected to encounter dry weather conditions.

Certain locales in the Eastern Highlands and Western parts of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Southeastern lowlands may witness strong winds coupled with substantial rainfall.

The regions encompassed by the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley include counties such as Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West Pokot.

Turkana and Samburu counties form the Northwest region of Kenya, while the Eastern Highlands of the Rift Valley encompass Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi counties.

Northeastern Kenya comprises Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, while the Southeastern lowlands include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties.
