Elgeyo Marakwet County Bans Making And Displaying Coffins Near Hospital Gates

Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly has passed a motion in county chambers banning displaying coffins and caskets near hospitals. The bill was passed unanimously is set to prevent patients from losing hope when they go to hospitals while gazing at the coffins.

While addressing the Nation, a MCA from the county said the business has been blasting at Iten County Referral Hospital where caskets were being made at the gate. He said he was taking a patient to the hospital at some point and the patient began crying when he saw coffins being made.

He added that the move serves to impart fear among patients and they need to tame the action totally. He added that coffins can be made at the rear of the roads and sign posts raised to guide them where they can get them.

He added that the business should also be done near the mortuary because that is where coffins are needed but not near the hospital gate.

However its said that area residents apparently conflicted with MCAs for passing such a bill as opposed to zeroing in on other matters of county importance such as proper healthcare, water among others.
