Chipukeezy: The Day I Seduced the Late Starlet Wahu

Kenya’s well-known comedian, Vincent Mwasia Mutua, widely recognized as Chipukeezy, has recently unveiled a previously undisclosed connection to the late socialite Starlet Wahu, shedding light on their friendship. During a candid conversation with Mwafreeka on the podcast ‘Iko Nini,’ the former Churchill Show comedian disclosed that he and Starlet Wahu had become friends through their interactions on social media.

Chipukeezy recounted how the 26-year-old Starlet had played a pivotal role in facilitating his interview with her brother, Nabii Victor Kanyari.

“Regrettably, I was acquainted with this young lady. She introduced me to Kanyari, and I conducted an interview with him on my channel,” Chipukeezy revealed.

He went on to share the backstory of how he initially reached out to the late Wahu, implying a romantic interest during their initial contact.

“I recall a time when Kanyari was trending while listening to a feel-good song in Machakos, and it seemed like this girl was recording him. I messaged her, expressing my interest in interviewing either Kanyari or her. I slid into her DM and conveyed my desire to interview Kanyari,” he explained.

Chipukeezy disclosed that, unable to reach Kanyari directly, he turned to his sister, who proved to be incredibly helpful by providing him with Kanyari’s contact information. The subsequent interview took place on the second season of Chipukeezy TV.

Despite the tragic turn of events, Chipukeezy revealed that he maintained occasional communication with Starlet Wahu even after the interview.

“We continued conversing sporadically, but life took its own course, and I would see her updates on social media,” he added.

Expressing profound shock at Wahu’s brutal murder, Chipukeezy condemned the inhumane act, asserting that she did not deserve such a fate.

Starlet Wahu’s lifeless body was discovered on a Thursday morning in the fourth-floor room of an Airbnb at Papino Apartments in South B, Nairobi. The discovery followed a report by a vigilant security guard who witnessed the suspect, John Matara, fleeing the scene.

In a statement on Sunday evening, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the detention of the 34-year-old suspect and assured ongoing investigations into the murder. The DCI appealed to other potential victims or survivors of the suspect’s actions to come forward and share their experiences.

“As the investigation into the heinous murder of socialite Starlet Wahu Mwangi, 26, continues with the main suspect John Matara currently in police custody, DCI appeals to victims and survivors of the suspect’s animosity to report their ordeals to the Nairobi Area Criminal Investigations Department or the nearest police station,” stated the DCI.

Matara was apprehended at the Industrial Area Police Station after seeking treatment at Mbagathi Hospital in Nairobi for minor injuries to his hand and leg. Alongside him was his 25-year-old friend, Anthony Nyongesa, who was assisting him at the hospital.

Investigations suggest that Matara might be a sexual assailant involved in a gang targeting women on dating websites.

“The investigation currently points to a possible sexual offender who succeeds by deceiving his victims and may be part of a criminal gang targeting women on dating websites and other social media platforms,” the DCI reported. They encouraged more witnesses to come forward and share their statements about these horrifying attacks.
