Kenyan musician Bahati recently shared his thoughts on a significant development in his family during an interview with YouTuber Eve Mungai. The subject at hand was his son, Morgan, introducing his girlfriend. This event took place in December the previous year, when Bahati’s wife, Diana Marua, had the opportunity to meet Morgan’s romantic partner.
Diana Marua had the chance to meet Morgan’s sweetheart while attending the graduation ceremony for sixth-grade candidates at Juja Preparatory School, where Morgan had been pursuing his education. During the event, Marua introduced an endearing young lady who had captured her heart.
Morgan, proudly introducing his girlfriend, affectionately declared, “She’s the lady I love.”
The young girl, seemingly a bit shy but with a genuine smile, introduced herself as Angel and confirmed that they were indeed dating. She responded, “I like him too.”
In the wake of this heartwarming encounter, the excited mother of three took to her social media accounts to express her delight at meeting her son’s girlfriend.
However, Bahati, during his conversation with Eve, expressed his disapproval of the fact that his son had a girlfriend. He conveyed his belief that he should be the only one in the house allowed to have a girlfriend, stating, “I don’t like that nonsense. Mimi pekee ndio nafaa kuwa na dame kwa hio nyumba,” which translates to “I should be the only one allowed to have a girlfriend in this house.”
In defense of his perspective, Bahati shared a personal anecdote about his own teenage relationships. He recounted how his high school girlfriend had broken his heart and had even negatively impacted his performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
“When I was in Form Four, I had a girlfriend. She broke up with me because I couldn’t afford to take her out for entertainment. It deeply affected me, and I ended up performing poorly in the KCSE,” Bahati narrated.
Additionally, Bahati revealed his frustration with his wife for supporting his son’s relationship, stating, “I was so mad. I didn’t like that nonsense.”
