Meet Azziad Nasenya Wafula, a proud Luhya hailing from the Mumias sub-county of Kakamega in Kenya. Born in 2001, she celebrated her 22nd birthday in 2023.
Azziad began her academic journey at Kakamega’s Central Mumias Primary School before later transferring to ST Cecilia Misikhu Girls Secondary School. Currently, she is pursuing a journalism course at the Kenya Institute of Mass and Communication.
Apart from her academic pursuits, Azziad is also a seasoned actress, showcasing her talent in the Maisha magic series ‘Selina.’
Azziad’s journey to fame took an unexpected turn when, at the age of 18, she opened a TikTok account to exhibit her acting skills. Little did she know that her destiny was about to change. In 2020, a video of her dancing to the Gengetone song “Utawezana” by Femi One and Mejja went viral, catapulting her to stardom. Her unique dancing style and infectious smile quickly earned her over 2 million followers on TikTok, making her one of the platform’s top celebrities.
With her massive following, Azziad has become a successful content creator, leveraging her popularity for promotions, advertising, and brand endorsements. Her rate card reveals that she charges a minimum of 50,000 Kenyan Shillings for each piece of content posted on her social media handles. Specifically, she earns 100,000 Kenyan Shillings for a TikTok video and 50,000 Kenyan Shillings for a live video. An additional fee of 50,000 Kenyan Shillings applies for Instagram stories and feeds.
In addition to her online success, Azziad is a valued member of the radio station Sound City, where she earns over 100,000 Kenyan Shillings each month. Notably, Cs Ababu Namwamba recently appointed her as a director of the Talanta Hella Committee, supporting emerging content creators.
