‘We’ll split Kenya if servers aren’t opened,’ Mwangi wa Iria

Former Murang’a Governor, Mwangi wa Iria, has called on President William Ruto to open the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) server to determine the true winner of the presidential election. Iria expressed his concerns in Murang’a during the Azimio consultation meeting, stating that failure to open the servers would lead to dire consequences, including the division of Kenya into two.

Opposition Chief, Raila Odinga, has also demanded that the IEBC server be opened and subjected to forensic analysis. Odinga claims that he won the election with 8.1 million votes, compared to Ruto’s 6.9 million votes. He alleges that his victory was stolen and given to Ruto with the aid of Venezuelans whom he claims have returned to the country to tamper with the server.

President Ruto, on the other hand, has dismissed the opposition’s demands, urging them to go find the server if they have a problem with it. He has accused Odinga of causing unrest in the country by continuously disturbing Kenyans.

Senate Majority leader, Aaron Cheruiyot, has also weighed in on the issue, terming the opposition’s demands as idle talk. He claimed that there was no law in place that could compel the government to open the servers, adding that such demands were blackmails that the government would not give in to during bi-partisan talks.

In conclusion, the calls for the opening of the IEBC server by both the opposition and former governor Iria have raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the presidential election in Kenya. While the President has dismissed these calls, it remains to be seen whether the issue will be resolved through bi-partisan talks or through other means.
