Flamboyant South Sudan fraudster, Lawrence Malong, has been imprisoned for 6 years in Uganda over gold scam.

Malong became popular after Kenyan media featured his flashy lifestyle.

He would post photographs and videos swimming in dollars and gloat about his wealth in the media.

Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange even hosted him for an interview where he bragged about his wealth and powerful connections.

Malong, together with two others, were handed a six-year prison term by High Court Anti-Corruption Division in Kampala after they conned a businessman millions on the pretense that they could sell him gold.

He was guilty of getting $1 million (about Sh107 million) through false pretense from the Ethiopian businessman.

Malong deceived the said man that he was a son of a general in South Sudan.
