Abdulrouff Opeyemi Meeinah, a dedicated youth corps member, embarked on her entrepreneurial journey on August 15, 2022, and has achieved remarkable success, now generating millions in revenue.
Commencing her venture with chiffon tops, Meeinah was astounded by the rapid sales of 30 pieces within the first week. Reflecting on her early days, she shared, “I’m 25 years old and started my thrift business with KSh 7000 on August 15, 2022. I initially focused on chiffon tops, sourced from a vendor on Instagram. I purchased 30 pieces for KSh 7000 and sold them at KSh 270 each, yielding a profit of KSh 1400 within a week.”
Encouraged by the swift success of the chiffon tops, Meeinah diversified her inventory to include shirts. Recounting the experience, she mentioned, “The response was overwhelming as people rushed to buy at KSh 270 each. Subsequently, I ventured into checkers shirts.”
Harnessing the potential of TikTok, Meeinah attributed significant visibility and growth to the platform. She stated, “TikTok played a crucial role in promoting my business. I began showcasing my products on TikTok, resulting in over 5,000 Instagram followers within a year, with a substantial portion originating from TikTok. Additionally, I conducted sponsored ads on Instagram twice a month.”
Speaking about her motivation, the 25-year-old entrepreneur emphasized that her business pursuit was driven by genuine passion rather than external influences. She explained, “I delved into this business because I genuinely love it. My decision wasn’t influenced by others or a desire to imitate someone. The driving force behind my courage is my passion, and I channel all my energy into advertising.”
Offering advice to fellow young individuals, Meeinah stressed the importance of cultivating passion for their chosen endeavors. She encouraged them by saying, “Passion is the key to sustaining one’s motivation in the face of challenges. I’ve encountered setbacks in my business, but my love for it keeps me going. To all young people, I advise you to pursue your passions; it’s the only thing that will keep you moving forward. Despite facing challenges, I am still learning and thriving in my business while serving in the youth corps, earning millions.”
