Shock as Thieves Steal Bread, Mistaking It for Money, Return in Anger and Kill Pregnant Woman

In a horrifying incident that unfolded in Ghana, two armed robbers, who had initially made off in haste with nothing more than a loaf of bread, returned in a fit of fury and brutality, leading to the tragic murder of a pregnant woman inside a local store.

As reported by Graphic Online, this shocking event transpired in the quiet town of Jang, nestled within the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region. The victim, Raymond Suglo, a 42-year-old merchant, and his pregnant partner became the targets of a harrowing ambush around 9:30 p.m. on a fateful Monday evening.

The assailants, mounted on a motorcycle, launched their assault as Suglo was making his way back from his shop. They unleashed a barrage of gunfire and menacing machetes, plunging the unsuspecting couple into a nightmarish ordeal.

Desperate to seek refuge, Suglo and his partner sought shelter within their bedroom. However, the robbers relentlessly attempted to force their way in, even with their innocent children trapped inside. In the midst of the chaos, a gunshot tore through the door, causing severe injuries to Mr. Suglo and compelling them to relinquish the door’s lock.

Once inside the couple’s room, the assailants demanded their valuables, including the day’s sales from Suglo’s shop. As they looted the premises, they came upon a wrapped package within Suglo’s motorcycle security compartment, mistakenly assuming their mission had been accomplished.

Yet, upon reaching their intended destination, they were met with the cruel realization that the sole item taken from their spree was a humble loaf of bread, seemingly destined for Mr. Suglo’s breakfast the following morning.

Undeterred, and driven by a mixture of desperation and anger, the robbers returned to Suglo’s residence, but he was not present. In a disturbing turn of events, they proceeded to shoot and kill his pregnant wife, Dorothy Suglo, before fleeing the scene.

From his hospital bed at the Upper West Regional Hospital, Suglo recounted the horrifying ordeal that lasted for a grueling forty-five minutes. During this struggle, he managed to inflict an injury to one of the attackers’ faces.

Suglo himself endured grievous gunshot wounds in his right leg and left shoulder, in addition to a head injury from the machete. Remarkably, despite sustaining seven gunshot wounds, he summoned the strength to escape on his motorcycle, attempting to reach the nearest hospital. Tragically, he collapsed on the way, an enduring testament to the sheer brutality of the events that unfolded that fateful night.
