Sad as Western Kenya Travellers Stranded After Climax Coach Leaves Them in the Cold Despite Paying Ksh 3k Fare

Travellers en route to Kakamega County from Nairobi found themselves confronted by the chilly night air when their journey came to an unexpected halt due to a mechanical failure in a Climax bus.

This unfortunate incident unfolded at Eka Tano Kikuyu in Kiambu County along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway around 10 pm on Saturday, December 23.

Details of the occurrence were shared by Sikika Road Safety through a Twitter post, accompanied by a photo depicting the stranded bus.

Despite the late hour and the inconvenience caused, passengers affected by the mishap expressed their dissatisfaction with Climax, the bus company, for not providing an alternative means of transportation. Each passenger had paid KSh 3,000 as the fare for the journey.

The frustrating ordeal was especially challenging for some passengers who were accompanied by children. They had to endure an unexpected night stopover in the cold, adding to the difficulties of the situation.

Travellers took to social media to voice their grievances, highlighting the lack of prompt assistance from Climax in resolving the situation.

In a statement released on Sunday, December 24, Sikika Road Safety conveyed the plight of the stranded passengers, saying, “Hello Sikika Road Safety, this is our unfortunate story; this vehicle developed a mechanical problem at 10 pm last night, and up to now, we have not received any rescue bus from the company. We are at Eka Tano area at Rubis, and everyone was paying 3k from Nairobi to Kakamega… we have children, and we are frustrated.”
