Pastor James Ng’ang’a- I released viral ‘Zakayo’ song 18 years ago

Apostle James Ng’ang’a is not just a preacher; he’s also a talented musician. Many of his songs have gone viral, including a recent one that became widely popular on TikTok in July, often used to make political statements.

His song “Shuka Zakayo” has become a meme, prompting the preacher to address its meaning.

He performed the song in front of a crowd in Kitengela, dancing and entertaining his followers.

The lyrics have captured the attention of many Kenyans, who have noted how creative and relevant they are to the current political and social climate in the country.

“Why are you worried? Your debt has been paid by Jesus. Come down, Zacchaeus, today I will dine in your house,” he sang, laughing as he noticed the crowd’s excitement, adding, “You like that one, don’t you?”

In an undated video, Ng’ang’a acknowledged the popularity of his songs and how catchy they are.

“I thank God. I’ve heard that Gen Z is really into it, and even my other songs,” he said, defending himself.

The Chief General Commander rejected the current interpretation of the song that’s circulating online, which some have linked to the current Head of State.

He insisted it was merely a coincidence.

“When I released that song, that wasn’t the intended meaning. I wasn’t referring to the Zacchaeus you’re talking about,” he clarified.

The song was released 18 years ago when he first began his musical career. Ng’ang’a, who owns several guitars, is known for performing major tunes with his congregation.

“I released that song almost 18 years ago. I recorded it at Kasanga Music Studio,” he explained, sharing the history of the project.

He has seven songs so far and takes pride in his creativity.

“I have an album with seven songs. I sing often. But I thank God, it seems it’s time for it to make an impact,” he concluded.
