Martha Karua, a well-respected senior counsel and former running mate of Raila Odinga in the August 9 General Elections, is known for keeping her family life private. As a result, little is publicly known about her family. However, it has been revealed that Karua has a “son” who works as a reporter for the Standard Media Group’s KTN.
George Maringa, who joined the media house as an intern in 2017, is not actually Karua’s biological son, but rather the biological son of a woman named Lucy Maringa, whom Karua refers to as her sister.
Despite not being related by blood, Karua has been supportive of Maringa’s career. Maringa earned a Mass Communication degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and also participated in Finland’s Foreign Correspondents’ Programme as an alumnus and fellow. Prior to joining KTN,
Maringa worked in various capacities within the Educational Technology and Learning Resources (ET&LR) Unit at the African Virtual University (AVU).
