Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has instructed the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to conduct a thorough investigation into the death of Jeff Mwathi. Kindiki took to Facebook to share this news and expressed confidence in the dispassionate approach of the homicide team from the DCI headquarters.
Reports suggest that Jeff Mwathi committed suicide by jumping off a building, according to a statement at Kasarani police station. Prior to his death, Mwathi had been contracted by Mugithi singer Dj Fatxo to refurbish the decor of his shop and office. CCTV footage showed Mwathi with Dj Fatxo and three ladies visiting various nightclubs before returning to the singer’s apartment at around 3 AM. Dj Fatxo and the ladies left, leaving Mwathi with two men who appeared to be nervous. Moments later, Mwathi’s body was found on the ground floor of the building.
Mwathi’s family disputes the suicide claims and believes that he never had any suicidal thoughts. In response to Kindiki’s call, detectives from the Homicide department at the DCI Headquarters have taken over the investigation. They have vowed to leave no stone unturned in their quest to uncover the truth and bring to justice anyone found to be involved in Mwathi’s death.
