I wasn’t okay with kiki, the manager made me do it- Stevo Simple Boy

Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy recently opened up about his unpleasant experience while signed under the Men In Business (MIB) record label, expressing his discomfort with the clout chasing tactics employed by the label. He specifically mentioned his discontent with the promotion of other women, considering he is a married man.

“I wasn’t comfortable with the attention-seeking stunts. I was compelled to engage in them. When you saw me with those luxurious cars, it was purely for business purposes. However, things escalated to a point where the manager planned for me to create false hype with women.”

“Given that I have a wife, why would they post pictures of other women on my social media platforms and falsely claim that I am romantically involved with them?”

Stevo’s wife, Grace, expressed her dissatisfaction with the label’s insistence on featuring these women.

“I voiced my concerns to the manager, explaining that what they were doing was wrong, but unfortunately, my pleas fell on deaf ears.”

Furthermore, Stevo revealed that he was only receiving 30% of the income he generated, while the label claimed the remaining 70%. Initially, he resided in a modest Ksh 7,000 house in Utawala, but was later moved to a two-bedroom house costing Ksh 10,000.

“Although my music videos were produced by kind-hearted individuals, the label still retained 70% of the profits. However, the primary reason for my departure from the label was the strained relationship between the manager and my wife. There were certain issues that my wife felt were not being addressed properly, but the manager chose to disregard her concerns.”

In response, MIB issued a statement stating that they had granted Stevo a smooth transition period of 35 days.

“We hereby inform you that we have decided to terminate our musical contract with you. This letter serves as formal notice of our intention to legally terminate the contract in accordance with established protocols,” stated a portion of the letter.

“The contract termination will be effective from the 31st of July, allowing for a 35-day period to address the interests of both parties and ensure a smooth transition. Throughout this process, all parties involved will adhere to a lawful course of action as per the stipulated procedures.”

The letter concluded by expressing gratitude to the singer for his cooperation during the duration of his contract and encouraged him to reach out if necessary.
