Controversial Kenyan Bishop Johanna is Dead

Bishop Johanna, a prominent figure within the Akorino community, has passed away, according to his wife, Mary Wanjiku. He died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Nakuru, having been diagnosed with meningitis after suffering from severe headaches.

Bishop Johanna gained notoriety for his controversial exorcism practices. In a widely circulated video, he was seen performing a ritual on a woman, which involved touching her inappropriately under the pretext of casting out demons. The video showed him applying ointment to various parts of her body, including her stomach and private areas, as she lay on her back.

The video also captured a conversation between the bishop and the supposed demons afflicting the woman, identified as Carol. However, Bishop Johanna later clarified that Carol was not the woman in the video but someone who allegedly had an affair with the victim’s husband.

Despite the backlash and accusations of indecent behavior from the public, Bishop Johanna defended his actions. He stated, “My intentions were pure and had no ulterior motives. While performing deliverance, I apply the anointing oil where the demons are believed to be. I can’t apply the anointing oil to the face when the problem is in the stomach. The woman told me her issue was in the stomach area, so that’s why I was rubbing oil there. I had no bad intentions.”

Before joining the Akorino sect in 2000, Bishop Johanna was affiliated with the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK). He began his ministry of delivering people from dark forces in 2014 and claimed to have cast out demons from approximately 2,000 individuals over the years.

Condolences have poured in for his family. May his soul rest in peace.
