Kenyan socialite Faith Makau aka Amber Ray has opened up on her experience becoming a mum at 17.
In an interview with Mungai Eve, she says the experience made her and her son Gavin very close.
“I got pregnant at 17. It was by mistake. But he (Gavin) is the best child ever.
Gavin is my friend, maybe it’s because I was young when I got him.”
Amber says her son has seen her at her worst, adding that that has strengthened their bond.
“He has seen me grow.
It has not been easy but he has seen me in all my stages.
There is a time I used to live a flashy life but it was given and then it was taken.
We had to start from scratch. I was afraid because I did not know how he would take it but God has been faithful.
When I told him we had to downgrade, he was okay with it.”
The mother of two now says on some days she wished Gavin’s biological dad was around to attend his school meetings.
“I hated attending school meetings. I wished his dad was present so that he can attend such meetings.
But generally, I have enjoyed my motherhood journey.”
