6 Al-Shabaab Killed After KDF-Led Ambush In Lamu

Six members of the Al-Shabaab group met their end in Kumba, Lamu County, during a coordinated security operation led by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). The operation, which also involved other security agencies, resulted in the elimination of the militants and the confiscation of significant logistical assets, as per a statement from the police.

The mission commenced at 1300 hours, orchestrated by a multi-agency team under KDF’s leadership. Their target: an active Al-Shabaab camp situated approximately 10 kilometers west of Pandanguo in Kumba. The successful operation not only neutralized six Al-Shabaab operatives, one of whom was identified as a foreign national but also dealt a significant blow to the group’s operations in the area.

The decision to launch the raid was prompted by intelligence reports indicating the group’s intent to carry out an attack in the vicinity. As a result, community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities promptly.

In light of the operation’s success, there is a possibility of heightened activity from the group, especially considering the reported injuries among the terrorists. Therefore, maintaining vigilance is paramount as efforts persist to disrupt terrorist activities and bolster security across the region.
