Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah has sensationally accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of masterminding the infamous raid on former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Northlands farm. The legislator claimed that Gachagua, during his tenure as a powerful figure in government, allegedly issued orders for police officers from Ruiru to be deployed to Nairobi to help organize the group of goons that later invaded the Kenyatta family property.
Ichung’wah made the explosive allegations while addressing a public gathering, where he linked the Deputy President to the coordinated attack that left the Northlands property in ruins. According to Ichung’wah, the police officers from Ruiru were used to provide cover and logistical support to the individuals who stormed the farm, destroyed property, and made away with livestock.
The Northlands raid, which took place in early 2023, shocked the nation as hundreds of individuals invaded the vast property owned by the Kenyatta family. The goons reportedly cut down trees, stole livestock, and vandalized property worth millions of shillings. The incident was widely interpreted as politically motivated, coming at a time when tensions between President William Ruto’s administration and the Kenyatta family were running high.
Ichung’wah’s remarks have reignited public debate over the circumstances surrounding the Northlands invasion and the government’s alleged complicity in the attack. Many Kenyans have called for investigations into his claims, saying the truth must come out about who authorized the assault on one of the country’s most prominent families.
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has not issued any public response to Ichung’wah’s claims. His allies, however, have dismissed the remarks as baseless political propaganda aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
Political analysts note that Ichung’wah’s statement may deepen the growing rift within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, especially as the political rivalry between leaders from the Mt. Kenya region continues to intensify. The accusations also highlight the ongoing struggle for political dominance between camps allied to President Ruto and those aligned with the former president.
As the debate unfolds, Kenyans are watching closely to see whether relevant authorities will take up the matter and investigate the alleged misuse of police officers. The Northlands raid remains one of the most controversial events in recent political history — and Ichung’wah’s claims have only reignited the demand for justice and accountability.
