Kenyan artist and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has attributed the suspension of her TikTok account, as well as that of her alleged partner Nelly Oaks, to the actions of Nyako’s followers.
Akothee asserted that Nyako’s followers deliberately reported her account following an online confrontation between the two personalities on the popular social media platform. Akothee, a recent entrant to TikTok, confidently declared herself the new queen in town, triggering a heated exchange with Nyako.
Nyako responded strongly to Akothee’s declaration, criticizing the mother of five for her past relationships. The verbal sparring escalated, with Nyako challenging Akothee to a showdown on TikTok, where she accused Akothee of throwing indirect shade at her in videos.
Claiming to have discovered videos insinuating negativity towards her, Nyako unleashed a fiery video laden with insults directed at Akothee. The conflict reached a point where Akothee’s TikTok account, along with Nelly Oaks’, was suspended for a temporary period.
Akothee attributed the suspension to jealousy and malice, alleging that people warned her against joining TikTok and advised her to stick to Facebook and Instagram. Undeterred by the setback, Akothee expressed her determination to return to TikTok after the suspension period, slated to end on November 25.
Addressing the situation, Akothee questioned the ownership of the app and the extent of control others may have over it. She lamented the uncontrollable jealousy and insecurity that led to the reporting and subsequent suspension of both her and Nelly Oaks’ accounts.
Despite the suspension, Akothee remained resolute in her commitment to maintaining an active presence on social media. Frustrated by what she perceived as an attempt to stifle her online engagement, she emphasized her dedication to utilizing these platforms for entertainment, education, and moments of enjoyment.
