Tragedy struck the household of Meru County Assembly Deputy Speaker, Mwenda Ali, as he faced the heartbreaking loss of his two children in a harrowing road accident along the Meru-Nairobi Highway.
Currently, recuperating from serious injuries at Karen Hospital in Nairobi, the MCA’s ordeal unfolded during a fatal collision along the Meru-Embu Road. Ali’s Subaru Legacy collided head-on with an oncoming double cabin vehicle at Kivwe in Embu County, leading to an immediate burst of flames engulfing his vehicle, tragically claiming the life of his daughter, Melissa Makena.
Present in the vehicle were Ali, his driver Michael Mwongera, and another two-year-old girl, all of whom sustained severe injuries. Rushed to Ena Hospital for initial treatment, they were later airlifted to Nairobi for specialized care.
The Deputy Speaker, reportedly occupying the passenger seat at the time of the accident, suffered significant injuries including a deep head cut, a dislocated left knee, and chest pains.
