Man Who Shouted ‘Ruto Must Go’ at Oscar Sudi’s Timba XO Club Detained for 2 Days Inside the Club

A man who shouted “Ruto Must Go” has reportedly been detained at a club affiliated with the Kapsaret Member of Parliament in Eldoret.

In a widely circulated video, the man is seen being assaulted by another man, allegedly a bouncer from the club. During the video, the detained man is heard saying, “Hapa timbaxo wasema nimefanya vurugu because of chanting,” indicating that he was accused of causing trouble due to his chanting.

The reason behind the bouncer’s decision to detain the man inside the club for two days remains unclear.

This incident follows a wave of “Ruto Must Go” chants in nightclubs across cities and major towns in Kenya, as Generation Z escalates their campaign against the Finance Bill 2024. Videos on social media show nightclubs in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho, Narok, and Naivasha joining in the chants around midnight on Saturday, intensifying the push for the Kenya Kwanza government to drop the bill.

For 15 to 30 minutes, clubs like Timba XO and Tamasha in Eldoret, and Space Next Door and Platinum 7D in Nakuru City, resounded with chants against the bill and the president.

What began as TikTok outrage over the controversial Finance Bill has evolved into a broader movement, potentially becoming a sustained political effort to defend the Constitution.
