Mai Mahiu dam Flood Tragedy: Death Toll Rises As One More Body is Recovered, 29 People Still Missing

In the aftermath of the devastating floods that claimed the lives of over 60 individuals in Mai Mahiu, Nakuru County, due to the bursting of a local dam and subsequent inundation of settlements, another victim has been discovered amidst the ongoing rescue efforts.

Lyford Kibaara, the commissioner overseeing Nakuru County, has confirmed that this recent recovery has pushed the total death toll to 61.

The discovery occurred during a coordinated operation led by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and National Youth Service (NYS) officers on Monday night.

As the search persists, the whereabouts of twenty-nine individuals remain unknown.
