Kenyan driver Nikhil Sachania has unfortunately been forced to withdraw from the 2024 WRC Safari Rally. The setback occurred on Friday, March 29, when Sachania and his navigator Deep Patel were involved in a crash near Kedong, resulting in the overturning of their Mitsubishi Evolution X car.
Fortunately, both Sachania and Patel emerged from the accident unharmed. Despite the disappointment of having to exit the competition prematurely, Sachania expressed optimism about their future participation in motorsport events. He conveyed his regret over the incident but affirmed his determination to return to racing soon, pledging to explore alternative car options and confirming their intent to engage in both local competitions and next year’s Safari Rally.
Similarly, Patel reflected on their journey in the rally, acknowledging their strong start and the challenges encountered along the way, particularly the loss of brakes leading to the crash. Nevertheless, he reassured their supporters of their imminent comeback.
Sachania and Patel are members of the KCB-sponsored drivers’ team, which includes reigning African Rally Champion Karan Patel, navigated by Tauseef Khan. KCB Bank Kenya serves as the official financial partner for the four-day event, which witnessed the participation of both local and international drivers on the demanding Loldia, Geothermal, and Kedong stages.
