Kenya Gov’t sets date for mass Registration of private security officers, Bouncers for guard force numbers

The government has unveiled plans to conduct a widespread registration initiative encompassing private security officers, bouncers, stewards, and close protection officers nationwide.

Administered through the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA), the registration drive is set to take place at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on March 30, 2024, commencing at 9 am. Interior Principal Secretary, Dr. Raymond Omollo, will preside over the event as the chief guest.

The primary objective of this forum is to formally introduce the Mass Registration of Guard Force Numbers for more than 30,000 private security officers, aligning with the ongoing MANDATORY nationwide security vetting, training, and licensing of all personnel involved in private security operations, as stated by PSRA in an official announcement.

As stipulated in Sections 21 and 28 of the Private Security Regulation Act, individuals are prohibited from engaging in the provision of private security services unless they have undergone security vetting, registration, and licensing by the authority.
