After causing mayhem in Maragua, Mwangi Wa Iria’s campaign drive team has distanced themselves from the chaotic scene experienced yesterday.
The campaign truck caught fire after a faulty power back up generator exploded.
It is reported that Wa Iria’s team had gone to Rural area, Maragua where they were registering members to join the Governor’s Usawa Kwa Wote Party.
According to the party officials who requested anonymity, Wa Iria is said to have distanced himself from the accident.
“Wa Iria is not to blame, it was just but an accident and obviously you can never be guaranteed of safety when dealing with machines,” one of the official said.
Traders from the area have however asked the governor to compensate them seeing that their goods were destroyed by the truck.
“Atleast he should compensate us for the lost goods. Everyone saw that it was Wa Iria’s truck so he can’t deny it,” a trader in Maragua said.
Wa Iria is on a mission to register over 4 million members countrywide through his Usawa Kwa Wote Party ahead of the 2022 general elections.
