The online community is currently in a state of mourning, grappling with the loss of the renowned content creator, Rebecca Livingstone, who was affectionately known to many as “Grandrising.”
Rebecca Amollo Livingstone Tala is being remembered as an individual who lived her life unapologetically and left a profound impact on those she encountered. Her passing was officially announced by her daughter, Saby Jua, through a heartfelt family statement that read as follows:
“Dear Family and Friends, It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Rebecca Amolo Tala Livingstone. She was a beloved wife to George H. Ogalo, a cherished mother to Tara Ogalo, Khadijat Balogun, Dan Nguyo, and a beloved grandmother to Sankara Nguyo. Additionally, she held a special place in the hearts of her dear siblings, including Jack Arum, Gerishon Odare, John Ochieng, Esther David, Veronica Amimo, Suzanne Wandango, Penina, and was a beloved aunt to Fredrick Koyier, Phil Arum, Millicent Ominde, Dennis Koyier, and many more.”
The news of Rebecca’s passing struck a chord with Kenyan TikToker Nyako, who is based in Germany. Nyako expressed her deep sorrow, stating, “I will miss Rebecca, her unique personality and characteristics. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. I can’t just say goodbye; there is a part of Rebecca, as content creators, that we will dearly miss. She had a compassionate side, and she did not harbor darkness in her heart. I could feel it, and that is why I will miss Rebecca.”
Nyako further reflected on Rebecca’s appearance during her illness, noting, “She was visibly unwell, and it made me wonder how Rebecca had changed. She didn’t look like the Rebecca I knew. Whether her health had deteriorated or not, may she rest in peace. We have lost a member of our community, and it doesn’t matter if she had a positive or negative influence; a departed soul remains a departed soul. We will continue to celebrate her memory, and we will miss her greatly.”
In response to the tragic news, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated with the goal of raising $6,000. The campaign seeks to honor Rebecca’s legacy of courage and fearlessness, which will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. The funds collected will support Tara, Khadijat, and Sankara in bidding their beloved Rebecca a heartfelt farewell. The memorial plans are set to take place between September 18th and 22nd, recognizing that the depth of this loss is something that may not be fully comprehended. Your generous support during this difficult time is sincerely appreciated.
