Daughter of Kenyas late President Moi June Chebet dies at the age of 60

June Chebet, the youngest daughter of the late President Daniel Moi, has passed away at the age of 60, as confirmed by the Moi family.

The family released a statement on Thursday, April 11, 2024, asking for privacy during this time of mourning. They expressed their gratitude for prayers and requested space as they cope with the loss of their sister, hoping for her soul to rest in peace.

Chebet passed away at her residence in Nairobi after experiencing respiratory issues. Despite being the daughter of one of Kenya’s most influential leaders from 1978 to 2002, she maintained a private life.

President Moi, who served as Kenya’s second President, was married to the late Lena Moi in 1950. Together, they were blessed with five sons and two daughters.
