Churchill Show Comedian Mtumishi Confesses Why He Hates His Own Mother so Much

Former Churchill Show comedian Gilbert Barasa, popularly known as Mtumishi, recently opened up about his tumultuous relationship with his mother, who raised him as a single parent.

Speaking during a church service at JCCM Church, Mtumishi shared the perspective of his pastor, who blamed his mother for the collapse of her marriage, accusing her of using witchcraft. The comedian expressed that he attributes his success to God, not his mother’s efforts, underscoring the emotional gap between them.

Mtumishi revealed that he has had no contact with his mother in the last two years and admitted that he would not feel emotionally affected if she passed away today. He recounted his last attempt to visit her in 2021, noting the lack of communication between them. He explained that he deliberately avoided her calls after she disowned him following his appearance on the Churchill Show. His mother, he said, accused him of disrupting the peace at home and failing to provide support.

Amid financial struggles, Mtumishi turned to his ex-girlfriend, who gave him Kshs 5,000, which he used to start a smokie business. He mentioned that he couldn’t ask his father for help due to his father’s remarriage.

As the firstborn child, Mtumishi shared his challenges in making a living from selling smokies. Desperate for financial assistance to attend Churchill Show auditions, he sought support from his father, who initially refused. However, after seeing his son’s success on TV, his father recognized his dedication and offered his help.

Further complicating his family situation, Mtumishi revealed that his mother had doubts about his potential success on television and strongly opposed his marriage to a Kikuyu woman. She predicted the failure of his marriage, and, unfortunately, her prediction came true as the marriage ended just four months later.
