“Apana Tishia Governor ” Sakaja Dismisses Impeachment Rumors: “hamuezi Fanya Kitu!”

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has addressed and dismissed rumors about a potential impeachment plot against him, reaffirming his commitment to his manifesto for the city. Sakaja emphasized that his administration remains focused on its goals and will not be diverted by such claims.

“We have successfully established 17 kitchens across 17 sub-counties,” Sakaja remarked. “We refuse to be distracted by baseless accusations. Our priority is to deliver on our promises and not to engage with unfounded impeachment rumors.”

Sakaja advised his executive team to disregard the impeachment speculations and remain focused on their service delivery responsibilities.

“Our mandate is clear, and we do not have time for gossip. Our primary goal is to serve our residents effectively,” he asserted.

In response to another circulating rumor, Sakaja clarified that he was not removed from President William Ruto’s jet headed for China, explaining that he had been occupied with project launches and had no travel plans for that destination.

“What plane are people talking about? I was scheduled to be in Umoja today, not in China. These are merely rumors,” Sakaja said.

The Governor made these statements during the inauguration of a “Dishi na County” kitchen in Umoja. He also commended the ongoing collaboration between President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga. Despite being in the minority in the county assembly, Sakaja noted that his administration continues to function effectively.

“There were doubts about my decision to collaborate with the opposition, but it is now evident that we have a national government committed to inclusivity and progress. We fully support this approach,” Sakaja stated.

Several Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), including Umoja MCA Mark Ronaldo, supported the Governor’s position and urged the executive to remain focused on service delivery.

Korogocho MCA Absalom Odhiambo, an Azimio coalition member, emphasized, “This is not Meru County; we will not move to impeach our Governor.”

Ronaldo added, “Before considering impeachment, we should first address any underperformance within the executive. Those not meeting expectations should be held accountable.”
