Njeri Gachomba, alias by stage name as Njambi has come out as a member of the LGBT community.
Addressing Mpasho, the former Real Househelps of Kawangware actor said she has chosen to come out to create awareness.
“As Denis Karari says, lets not judge people based on who they love. It doesn’t mean am a bad person, I am not stealing nor killing someone.. people say LGBT members are bad.
What’s the point about my life? Allow us to acknowledge LGBT people, love is love,” Njambi said.
The actor is vocal in pushing for LGBT rights in the midst of unforgiving African culture.
“Am open-minded. I believe that love is love, and we are allowed to love who we want regardless of the gender.”
In an interview on her YouTube channel, Njambi shared one of her past encounters, saying people around her know about it.
Here, she talks of how she was trolled on social media for saying she adores girls.
“These things are normal.. Guys traumatized me, society kills people so much.”
Njambi also perceives difficulties that individuals from the LGBT people face at family level.
” Some are isolated by their families, taken for prayers.. or even chased away from their homes. Africans make it feel like it’s a bad thing to love someone of the same gender. Like it’s a sin,” Njambi shared.
The difficulties, she said, stretch out to workplaces.
