‘Alilala Na Mtu Hajui’- Pastor Kanyari Speaks About Circumstance That Led To His Sister’s Recent Demise

Renowned Kenyan pastor, Kanyari, has recently addressed the circumstances surrounding the untimely death of his younger sister, Wahu Starlet.

The expeditious burial of socialite Starlet Wahu, who fell victim to a tragic murder on January 4th, has triggered controversy in online circles, especially among Kenyans familiar with the customary week-long mourning period observed by the Kikuyu community. Contrary to this tradition, Wahu’s family laid her to rest on January 6th, merely three days after the incident, leading to widespread questions and speculation.

Compounding the perplexity, Wahu belonged to a well-known religious family, with her mother, Prophetess Lucy Nduta, and brother, Pastor Victor Kanyari, being prominent figures in Kenya. Given this public background, the swift burial has sparked debates regarding the family’s motives for the rapid ceremony.

Concerns range from potential efforts to evade public scrutiny surrounding Wahu’s lifestyle and the circumstances of her death to speculations about religious or cultural factors influencing the decision. Fans and online users have expressed discomfort with what they perceive as a departure from tradition, emphasizing the significance of customary mourning rituals in the community.

Kanyari has attributed part of the blame to Wahu, alleging that she engaged in intimate relations with someone she barely knew. He based his statements on the discovery of used condoms in their room and an HIV test kit, suggesting a level of familiarity between the two.

According to Kanyari, Wahu had a history of a party lifestyle since her early years, asserting that she had not embraced salvation (‘hajaokoka’), leading her to succumb to alcoholism and other substance abuse.

It is crucial to approach this sensitive topic with caution, recognizing the need to respect the family’s privacy while fostering open discussions about cultural practices and their evolution.
