Angry residents sets ablaze suspected thief inside pit latrine in Murang’a.

Residents in Gatanga, Murang’a County on Wednesday, September 29 set ablaze a suspected thief who had sort refuge in a pit latrine.

The 30-year-old thief identified as Joseph Karanja is said to have committed the robbery on Tuesday night.

“At the crack of dawn this morning, the unforgiving residents dispatched a search party for the suspect, in the hope that they would get hold of him,” DCI said.

To serve an example, residents went on a manhunt for the suspect saying that only lynching could end the high numbers of persistent robberies.

“As the search was about to give up at 10am, they stumbled on the suspect at his hideout, close to his father’s compound,” DCI reports.

The suspect is said to have jumped into a 10 feet pit latrine where he met his untimely death after angry residents gathered firewood and Petroleum which they threw into the latrine and started a fire.

Area police have however warned the public against taking law into their own hands.
