Kenyan singer Willy Paul, popularly known as Pozzee, recently revealed that he has been practicing celibacy for several months. Celibacy, the choice to abstain from sexual activity for a certain period or until marriage, has reportedly had a positive impact on his career. In a discussion on the Mic Check Podcast, Willy Paul shared his experience.
“I decided to abstain for the success of my album ‘Beyond Gifted.’ I’ve been avoiding it, abstaining for a few months. I wanted to see how my work would be without sex since then, and God has been faithful to me,” he stated.
In a similar vein, Kibera rapper Stevo Simple Boy had previously declared his intention to end his 10-month celibacy if media personality Betty Kyallo agreed to date him. When asked about his period of celibacy, he replied, “Currently, it’s been ten months.”
Stevo Simple Boy emphasized that he would only pursue relationships in a committed context, expressing optimism that Betty Kyallo would accept his proposal and eventually become his wife. He highlighted his different approach, saying, “I am different from other men. Some men say, ‘Oh, I can’t stay without a woman until I engage in some mischief.’ No, this thing is about endurance. Have patience, and you will find your rib.”
Additionally, Sam West, the former husband of singer Vivianne, shared his own celibacy journey. In an interview with Mpasho, he disclosed that he had not engaged in sexual intercourse for the past two years.
“I have been celibate for two years. Peace of mind is abundant. It also helps you heal quickly after a breakup. If you break up with someone and rush into backward relationships, it becomes difficult to recover,” Sam West explained.
