Former gospel singer Willy Paul has recently shared his advice for men who are looking for a partner. He warns against dating or marrying women from social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. According to Willy Paul, these women are like “poison” and “demons” who change their identities and move from one place to another with sponsors.
Instead, he suggests that men should focus on finding a partner from rural areas and “beautify them in a manner that pleases them”. In his words, “hawa madem wa Instagram ni sumu. My fellow men let us look for wife materials ushago tuwasafishe wang’are vile tunataka hawa wa Tik Tok na IG ni mapepo. One minute uko na yeye hapa Nairobi the next ako na Baba Kamau Mombasa na akachange hadi jina.”
While Willy Paul’s advice may seem controversial to some, it is worth noting that his fellow gospel artist and frenemy, Bahati, found love through social media. In a past interview, Bahati revealed that he met his current partner, Diana, through Facebook. She had liked several of his photos, which caught his attention and led him to check out her profile. They later appeared together in Bahati’s music video.
Despite this difference in opinion, Willy Paul’s advice highlights the importance of being cautious and selective when it comes to choosing a partner, especially in the age of social media.
