Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo has revealed that upon arriving in India, he and others in the delegation did not get the opportunity to view the body of the late Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a recent interview, Letoo expressed disappointment, noting that the trip had been emotional and filled with anticipation, but they were unable to pay their final respects to the late opposition leader as expected.
“When we landed in India, we didn’t get a chance to view Raila Odinga’s body,” Letoo said, describing the situation as unfortunate.
He explained that strict protocols and security arrangements surrounding Raila’s body limited access, allowing only a few selected individuals to see him. Letoo added that the atmosphere was tense and sorrowful, with many in the delegation still struggling to come to terms with Raila’s death.
The journalist also reflected on the significance of the trip, saying it underscored how deeply Raila Odinga’s influence extended beyond Kenya’s borders. He noted that even in India, the former Prime Minister’s name commanded respect, and many people expressed condolences and admiration for his long political career.
Letoo’s revelation has since sparked discussion online, with Kenyans questioning why some close allies and journalists were restricted from viewing the body. Others sympathized with him, acknowledging the emotional weight of covering the loss of a man who shaped Kenya’s political history for decades.
