The government through National Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Ukur Yatani has chided allegations that the outgoing president, Uhuru Kenyatta, secretly sold three Kenyan Ports to a Dubai firm.
The allegations were made by Kenya Kwanza leaders led by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi who in a lengthy letter dated June 29, 2022, claimed that Uhuru auctioned Kenyan assets against the law.
Musalia alleged that Dubai Port World PZE, a private company, would take over the management of Mombasa, Lamu and Kisumu ports.
Today, we reveal to Kenyans a clandestine plot by the outgoing handshake government of Uhuru and Raila to illegally mortgage our ports of Mombasa, Lamu, and Kisumu to a foreign country.
“In a secret deal under the guise of an economic cooperation agreement with the United Arab Emirates, and which epitomised grand corruption, Uhuru has assented to a rip-off that will see a privately registered entity-Dubai Port World PZE take over these national infrastructure assets,” the leaders claimed.
Musalia also alleged that on March 1, Yatani signed the deal.
Kenyans will also remember that soon thereafter, the trio made several trips to Dubai jointly and severally.
The Kenya Kwanza leaders have now said that they will go to court to stop the government from making the transaction.
