TikTok sensations Raymax and Maycee Ochieng have become notable content creators, raking in substantial earnings from their unique endeavors. Their journey to fame began on the popular video-sharing platform when they decided to film themselves in an unconventional setting—sleeping side by side in their matrimonial bed.
This daring approach to content creation proved to be a game-changer for the couple as they quickly amassed thousands of devoted followers and garnered millions of likes from their intriguing sessions. In a recent interview with a local news outlet, Raymax and Maycee disclosed that they now earn a staggering Ksh50,000 per week solely by recording themselves while asleep on TikTok.
It’s worth noting that their path to success wasn’t always smooth sailing. When they initially ventured into content creation on TikTok, they faced difficulties in gaining followers and generating income. Their breakthrough moment, however, arrived approximately three months ago when some of their dedicated followers proposed the idea of broadcasting live sleeping sessions on TikTok.
“Our initial content was rather typical—sharing stories, singing, telling jokes, and such. Then, one of our fans commented that I talked a lot and suggested we try recording our sleep sessions. So, we gave it a shot,” Maycee shared.
Raymax added, “We noticed that some other couples were already live-streaming their sleep, so we decided to put our own unique spin on it by focusing on cuddling. It turned out to be less physically demanding than our previous content.”
Nonetheless, Raymax emphasized that daytime sleeping for content creation wasn’t as effortless as it might seem. “Some people assume it’s a breeze, but sleeping during the day can be quite taxing. Imagine lying in one position for over six hours because you have to face the camera. Sometimes, I have to briefly step out of the frame and stretch,” he admitted.
For Raymax and Maycee, TikTok has now become their primary source of income, allowing them to comfortably cover their expenses and even relocate from their original residence in Bombolulu, Kibera, to a more spacious two-bedroom apartment.
However, this newfound success came at a cost, as Maycee was let go from her job due to a breach of her employer’s strict social media policy. Consequently, she now considers herself a full-time TikToker. When comparing her earnings from TikTok to her previous salary, Maycee asserted that the online space offers a more lucrative opportunity. She recounted days when they made as much as Ksh10,000 from a single live TikTok session.
Additionally, Raymax and Maycee have been approached by several companies for potential brand endorsements, suggesting that their income may continue to grow in the future.
