The Untold Story on Why Samidoh was Expelled from NYS

Samuel Muchoki, widely known by his stage name Samidoh, has established himself as a prominent and successful vernacular artist in the country.

While he is celebrated for his musical prowess and his role as a police officer, there exists a lesser-known chapter in Samidoh’s life that traces back to his time in the National Youth Service (NYS) and the unexpected twists of fate that eventually led him to his current dual roles.

Samidoh’s diverse career took an unexpected turn during his stint in the National Youth Service (NYS). A revelation made during a candid interview with comedian Daniel Ndambuki, aka Churchill, unveiled that Samidoh was expelled from the NYS school in GilGil, Nakuru County. This expulsion was a consequence of his decision to attend an Administration Police (AP) recruitment exercise in Nyandarua County without proper authorization. Despite this setback, Samidoh’s journey was far from reaching its conclusion.

Reflecting on this period, Samidoh shared, “I sneaked out of NYS school in Gilgil and attended an Administration Police recruitment in Nyandarua. However, I was not successful, and when I got back to NYS, they initially treated me like nothing had happened, but they knew I had sneaked out and later expelled me from the service.”

Following this unexpected turn of events, Samidoh found himself standing at a crossroads in his life. Undeterred by the challenges, he secured employment as a data entry clerk at a flower farm in Nyandarua, his home county.

Despite facing rejection initially due to his slender build, Samidoh’s determination to join the ranks of the Kenya Defence Forces persisted. On his third attempt, he succeeded in becoming a part of the Administration Police, a unit under Kenya’s National Police Service.

Continuing to serve in the police service, Samidoh’s journey stands as a reminder of his humble beginnings. His initial operation took place in Eastleigh, Nairobi, following which he was posted to Mpeketoni in Lamu County, showcasing the resilience and determination that define his remarkable career.
