Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, has been nominated for the 95th Academy Awards, set to take place on March 12, 2023.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nomination list on Tuesday, which included Tems in the category of Best Original Song for her collaboration with Rihanna on the song ‘Lift Me Up’. The song was featured in Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
Rihanna co-wrote the song with Tems and it was produced by Ludwig Göransson and directed by Ryan Coogler.
Tems’ nomination has generated excitement among many Nigerians, coming just a week after famous American rapper Snoop Dogg expressed interest in working with her.
