Oga Obinna blasts Kenyan celebs for being indiscipline: “They show up smelling sweat”

Kenyan celebrities have recently faced criticism from comedian Oga Obinna on social media, who claims that collaborating with them can be challenging at times.

Obinna specifically accused Stevo Simple Boy of missing a crucial meeting that could have resulted in a lucrative job opportunity with a bookmaker.

Expressing his disappointment, the former Kiss 100FM DJ took to social media to vent his frustration. He mentioned how he had heard the musician pleading for assistance and had gone out of his way to help him. However, Stevo’s absence at the scheduled meeting left Obinna disheartened.

“I am truly disappointed in Stivo, his management, and his ‘friend.’ Considering the difficulties he has been facing lately, as reported in the past week, I reached out to some influential people who were willing to offer him a one-year contract with @mo2bet. I contacted Vaga, arranged a meeting for today, but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. If this continues…”

This incident prompted the comedian to share his thoughts on the negative aspects of Kenyan celebrities, describing them as lacking discipline.

“Assisting Kenyan celebrities is an arduous task; it requires resilience and a strong heart. From my personal interactions with various celebrities, including comedians, musicians, dancers, and DJs, whom I have tried to support and secure opportunities for, 99% of them have let me down. What’s wrong with us? The primary issue plaguing the entertainment industry is indiscipline. Indiscipline covers a wide range of behaviors, but today, I want to focus on a few aspects. Kenyan artists and celebrities, be it comedians, musicians, or content creators, are generally undisciplined.”

According to Obinna, most celebrities fail to fulfill their promises and exhibit unprofessional behavior.

“They often fail to deliver on their commitments, be it timing or execution. They start something and don’t finish it. They disregard punctuality; you call someone who is supposed to meet a client or provide for your needs, and they show up hours late, appearing disheveled and smelling of sweat, seemingly hungover, simply because they consider themselves to be important.”

There is a common assumption that celebrities with a large following on social media automatically deserve major deals. However, Obinna strongly disagrees with this notion.

“Many people believe that having a significant number of followers entitles you to enter a boardroom and secure deals worth millions. But the truth is, it takes time, persistence, patience, and perseverance. Very few individuals secure deals worth millions; it’s a rarity, perhaps only a handful. The majority of us rely on accumulating smaller earnings from various sources. So, dear superstar, will you sustain yourself with followers and likes? Let’s pause and reflect on this.”

In summary, comedian Oga Obinna criticized Kenyan celebrities for their perceived lack of discipline and professionalism. He shared his disappointment regarding Stevo Simple Boy’s missed opportunity and highlighted the challenges faced when supporting and collaborating with celebrities in Kenya.
