Night Drama In Maragua As Thief Pretending To Be A ‘Ghost’ Is Beaten To A Pulp By Boda Riders.

There was drama in Mugumoini village, Maragua-Murang’a County yesterday night, after a thief pretending to be a ghost was given a dog’s beating.

According to Mugumoini residents the man identified as Martin Kamau is among a gang of 10 that has been terrorizing the area with their absurd robbery moves.

It is reported that Kamau was waiting for his target at the Bridge connecting Mugumo and Muguini Village wearing costumes that would freak any innocent people coming from work at night.

According to the bodaboda victim, Kamau jumped from the bush and stood in the middle of the road giving the rider a shock of life.

“Alitoka tu kwa kichaka akanishtua. Mimi nikasimamisha nduthi akaniekelea panga kwa shingo then akachukua pesa zangu. Bahati tulikuwa tumepanga na wenzangu juu Hawa wezi wametuzoea,” he said.

Other riders who had been watching from a distance descended on the ghost thug saying that they (riders) had planned it since the thieves have become a constant menace.

“Tulikuwa tumepanga. Sasa vile huyu Mwizi alitokea, tukaeka mwenzetu kama bait. So ndio Sasa tukamshika. Wametuzoea sana,” a rider commented.

“Juzi walishtua nyanya mzee around 6am, juu walikuwa wamevaa kaa ghost, Nyanya akashtuka akafaint akidhani ameona shetani. Wasee Wa Nduthi ndio walimpata wakampeleka hosi Maragua,” a rider added.

Kamau was however lucky to escape being lynched after the intervention of journalists led by Murang’a Newspaper’s senior reporter, Jack Reu.

Cases of crime are on the rise in Maragua and residents have called on the county government to increase police officers patrolling the area.
