Netizens yesterday, December 16, were washed up in rumors of the death of renowned Scholar and writer Ngugi Wa Thiongo.
However, the family has dismissed the allegations labeling them as just rumors and fake.
Issuing a statement, Ngugi’s son, Mukoma Wa Ngugi stated that his father is alright.
“Just got off the phone with pops, Ngugi Wa Thiongo and he is doing well – we shared a good laugh about his supposed demise. But good to see so many people caring,” Mukoma wrote on his Twitter page.
Thiongo is celebrated for writing books in the Gikuyu language which has its roots in the Mt Kenya Region.
Some of his works includes novels, plays and essays and children literature.
