The tragic death of 23-year-old interior designer Jeff Mwathi has been shrouded in mystery, with recent revelations indicating that he was romantically involved with two women.
Following Jeff’s reported death on February 22, 2023, his girlfriend Faith Wairimu spoke to the media, revealing that one of the women who had been in the company of Jeff and DJ Fatxo at the Kikuyu singer’s Kasarani apartment had contacted her. The woman, identified as Mutanu, had called Wairimu to ask if she knew of Jeff’s whereabouts, stating that they had been drinking together and that Jeff was missing from their gathering. Mutanu then continued to give Wairimu conflicting statements about Jeff’s whereabouts until it was revealed that he had fallen from DJ Fatxo’s 10th-floor apartment.
Wairimu subsequently expressed her outrage in various media interviews, stating that she would never forgive those responsible for Jeff’s death. On her social media accounts, Wairimu has posted several videos of herself and Jeff, including one where they are playing with phone filters while lounging in bed and taking selfies together.
However, shortly after Wairimu’s last post, another woman identified as Iheart Njeri posted videos of herself and Jeff spending time together, captioning them with the hashtag #RIP #ILoveYou, and expressing her sorrow at Jeff’s passing.
The emergence of Njeri on social media has elicited a range of reactions, with some suggesting that the person who sat in the tent with Jeff’s mother and spoke to the media is the one he loved, and that Njeri was merely a friend. Others have questioned the authenticity of Njeri’s relationship with Jeff, noting that he did not seem happy around her.
